Encouraging TAG Cs to conduct TAG meetings

It is my SMART goal
to motivate and encourage tag coordinators to conduct tag meetings regularly.
To enable them to sustain the interest of tag meetings by visiting tags and
talking with tag teachers and tag coordinators.
I decided to visit Tags
from Malegaon block (Nashik) . So firstly I called to all the TAG Cs from
Malegaon. There are 5 TAG coordinators in Maleagaon block.Mangesh Shewale , Kiran Kedar ,Yogesh Agale,Pravin Shinde and
Nilesh Bhamare.All are very active but nowadays they are busy in different
tasks. So sometimes they discontinue their tag meetings. Or hardly send any
report. I talked to each person on phone on 12th jan. Mangesh sir
and Kiran sir immediately organized meeting with the help of their Cluster
heads on 13th Jan Saturday. Pravin and Yogesh were busy in Spoken
English 5 days face to face training at Malegaon Municipal school.
Mangesh sir conducted Tag meeting at
BRC,Malegaon I reached at BRC at 9:00am. Mr N.M.pawar (cluster head,Vadner
cluster) and Mr N.B.Nikam (Cluster head,Ajang Cluster) were present. 25
teachers were present and sitting in groups.
The tag meeting already began at 8:30 am. Mangesh sir took
an onion ring activity and practised review questions. Teachers liked this activity
when I asked them ,which things did they learn today ?
Language Development section n started at 9:05am. Tag C
selected the topic Big city small
world:Fast food. Tag C nicely
facilitated this section. He has good rapport with everyone. He put the
participants in groups ,gave demo and after put everybody in pairs. All
practised the dialogues. Everyone was using English and some teachers were trying
to speak a little bit. But very few were
very confident in Speaking English. Mangesh sir took a filly bag activity.
He had brought a bag having many vegetables and fruits. He made all the teachers to sit in 5 groups and went in each group. He told one person from each group to put his/her hand
in the bag and asked him/her not to see,but touch and guess which fruit that was. Teachers tried their best. Whatever
teachers guessed ,he wrote the names on blackboard. Very nice use of
blackboard.
After guessing all food items,he took all the vegetables one
by one and teachers checked whether their guess was correct or incorrect.
Teachers truly enjoyed this activity.
He took some reflective questions on section one. Teachers
were quite talkative.They worked together and shared their ideas with the
class.
Reading Section started
at 9:35. Good time management. Finding and creating resources this topic was selected and discussed by
teachers.
N.M.Pawar (Kp) took
2 mins and introduced me. I talked to all teachers and got to know the impact
of Tag meetings. Most of the teachers are very positive about TAG meetings.
They all love to join meetingsand love to practice activities from Tag resource
book. Many teachers took chain drill,jump left and jump right,point to
activities in their classrooms. They started to speak in English with their
learners and students also forming simple sentences. Some teachers were
speaking English very fluently . So I encouraged them to work as Tag
facilitator. They also accept to work so.
Niced arrangement by Tag officer N.m.pawar sir who was
master trainer in ELIPS. He provided spacious room with projector.
Magesh sir continued
tag meeting while I travelled to Karanjgaon village to visit other tag run by
Kiran Kedar. It was 16 Km away from Malegaon.
I reached at Z. P.School,Karanjgavhan at 10:30 am. Mr Jaware sir (Cluster head) and Mr.S.P.Rajput (HM) were present. Teachers were engaged in learning by watching
section. They were seeing the video of using flashcards in their own phones as
no projector was there. Kiran sir has very good rapport with them all and he is
a tech savvy person too ,so he had sent the link of video and overcame the
problem.
Teachers were working in groups and pairs. They were talking
in simple English ,sharing reflection with each other. They also were
involved in back to back activity. And memory game.
Kiran sir facilitated well.
I motivated them to join tag meetings every month.
Mr jaware sir had a nice talk with all. I requested him when
he will visit the classrooms ,please ask each tag teacher to conduct one
activity from tag meeting. All the teachers accepted this challenge and Kp was
also very positive to observe the class of Tag teachers. Although Kiran Kedar
being selected as Subject assistant at Nashik DIECPD, he has been conducting
tag meetings and he has very concrete bonding with the teachers and authorities
of Malegaon block. He can easily tackle problems of tag and other programmes
from same block. This is his nice achievement. He is also very good tag
coordinator fluent in English and good user of blog,whats app,facebook,you tube
and twitter. He is using all these things in tag.
He should motivate
all teachers to join facebook tejas4 ed and ask them to upload videos of their
classes.
I conducted a focus group of teachers by conducting memory
game. Each one enjoyed and felt themselves motivated and confident. I asked
them whether they like tag meeting,what activities do they love /what things
they practise in their classes. Teachers gave positive responses about tag. But
they need more practice and engagement in tag meetings.
After all it was nice meeting by kiran sir.
I observed one classroom at 11:30 am in the same school. I went
in 1st Std. Asked few questions and students answered confidently.
They could identify numbers in English. They knew the concept of Ten.
I:How many tens are there in 14 ?
One child gave correct answer.”One ten”.
I : How many windows?
Children :3
I : How many doors
Children : one (एक)
Dnyadada was a girl of six ,she deliverded a speech on
cleanliness in fluent Marathi for 5 mins. I was so surprised to see a girl
giving speech. It was really amazing. They also sang a beautiful song in Marathi.
They asked me questions,”What is your name ? Where you from ? “ They enjoyed my
company and I enjoyed these little blossoms company.
There are 2 english
Medium schools in the Village ,but people send their children in Marathi
school. So teachers have to be more careful about their job. Everyone is
devoted.
It was really good experience
to observe 2 tag meetings and 1
classroom,tslking with teachers and Tag cs. Nice journey and nice moment. In both
meetings teachers felicitated me for being selected for conference. They become
more happy when they come to know that I am also primary teacher.
3rd tag was conducted and arranged by Nilesh
Bhamare in Malegaon.But I could not mange to visit this Tag.
